THE TEARS OF ACHERON
Megapolis resembles a mountain. Also its social structure is constructed like a mountain. On its top, in Neoolympus, the Archons live and work, having at their disposal contractual service and resources unimaginable to common mortals. Below there are sparse Aristoi who are the best among the citizens. At the very bottom, at the foot of the mountain, common citizens dwell – the thetes. Millions of citizens live in cramped housing, often entangled in a system of labor and tenancy contracts which generates a constantly growing spiral of indebtedness, from which not only an individual but whole generations cannot get out.
This is among thetes where first strikes broke out, which were sometimes turning into bloody clashes with Logos’ Hoplites. These however were pacified as fast as they broke out. Leaders were soon being bribed, and those who were unwilling to come to an agreement to, were quickly perishing in show trials of Themis or disappearing mysteriously to spend the rest of their lives in the mines of Tartarus.
It was when Tears came into being, hidden from ubiquitous owls of Athena, camouflaged in Aether. Members of this organization rarely know more than two others, and thus catching a larger number of them is never successful. OverWatch’s records show however that loyalty to Tears may be shown even by several millions of lower-class citizens, which at some point may become a serious problem for Zeus.
